The Bad with the Rad

Let me start off by saying this is a half bad and half rad blog. Id be lying to you and myself if I wasn't honest. I know that everything cant be great all the time. With that being said here is my blog for the recent show on June 20th at PubRocks in Scottsdale AZ.

We Arrived at 645pm for a 7pm opening. (Our Tickets said Doors open and 7pm) I am not sure what happened but the doors didn't open till 8pm. No one came out to tell us anything. There was a big line and we were all waiting out in the 100+ degree weather. Even with water and some parts on shade it was still hot as Satan's Ass Crack. The one awesome thing that happened while waiting is the band *Some Call Us Heroes* came out and gave everyone in line there CD. Thank you for that Guys!! Also on  a side note..Love the tracks, and you guys rocked it on stage sound amazing live and to the readers out there check them out!
Ok so back to the rest...We finally got into the venue and got our drinks and seats. The first band to come out was Jane of the Jungle I loved there sound! Its a mix of blues and rock. Next was Note to Self again another amazing set, Also congrats guys on winning the local warped battle of the bands!! Next is DED I have never heard this band before and was blown away you couldn't help but get up and move. After DED was Some Call Us Heroes again AMAZING! Unfortunately I couldn't stay for Shamans Harvest and PowerMan5000, Ive gotten to see PM5K several times and every time is just as stellar. I'm sure this one was phenomenal as well! As for Shamans Harvest I would have loved to seen live since I never have gotten to but I'm sure Ill get another chance in the future! Even though it was a rough start it went very well for the rest of the night. In the future though , I get that things can happen and make things run late but a simple heads up to the crowd would be awesome! That's all for now and I cant wait to hear more from these bands!!

Virulent...Here comes the Boom!!

Last year I went to see Wayne Static at Club Red and before his performance there were some local bands that took to the stage. One of the bands that stood out to me was the band Virulent. A year later I started this blog and they were the first band that came to mind and I thought what would be better then blogging about it. An interview with the band!! I got to talk to Matt Nisbet one of the guitarist for the band, But before we get into all that lets do a quick Bio...From Phoenix Arizona. Experimental Death core, Album out called "Empire".  Band Members..
                                                  Mike Neve-Vocals
                                     Matt Nisbet-Guitar and Programming
                                 Barrett Gardner-Drums and Programming
                                                  Allan Foster-Bass
                                                  Kieth Piske-Guitar
Swagy Kush-Electronics and Back up Vocals

Now that you got a little feel for them here is the interview with Matt Nisbet.

Munster-What Brought you guys as a band to try experimental death core?

Matt- When Mike, Barrett, and I got together to first start this project,we just wanted to write low-tuned aggressive music but still include some of our more melodic inspirations. Once we released our first free EPs at shows and online, the fans are the ones that labeled us as "experimental death core". We figured they would know best and went with it.

Munster- You guys opened for Wayne Static, What other bands have you opened for? Or would you like to open for?

Matt- We have had the opportunity to open for Soulfly, The Browning, Carnifex, Solus Deus, We are the Riot, Spineshank, Incite, City in the Sea, Silent Planet, As well as all of our awesome friends here in town, Pelvic Meatloaf, Play for Blood, Autumns End, Blessedbethyname, Sicmonic, Howitzer. So much talent here its hard to keep up! We would love to open for bands such as Glass Cloud, Volumes, The Acacia Strain, Emmure, Deftones and whoever will have us out if it fits.

Munster-Songs such as "Mr. Joshua" and "Chuggernaut" are they a collaborative effort for writing the lyrics?

Matt- Mike Neve writes 100% of the lyrics for us.

Munster-First concert you guys watched growing up that drew your inspiration to perform today?

Matt- Hmmm. Never really thought about this one before haha. Probably a mix of seeing Fear Factory, Pantera, Nirvana and Deftones a few times back in the day.

Munster-If you could recommend a song for first time listeners off your new album "Empire" which one would it be?

Matt-Hard to pick just one for us.We aim to setup our albums to flow front to back as a preferred set list, but if you want to skip around at first you cant go wrong with "Duct Tape Smile". Its probably one of the best mixes of what we do all in one song.

This concluded the interview. On June 5th They had a show at Joes Grotto in Phoenix AZ and Myself along with another Munster was there to enjoy there badassery ! In short Ladies and Gents if you have not heard of them well you need to get off your ass and do so! Trust me you will not be disappointed. Album out now "Empire" get it on Itunes! Check them out on Facebook and Twitter and the website Virulent Official.

Check em out!! Also Virulent is this upcoming pick of the week!! Thank you guys for an amazing  show and for taking the time out to meet us!!

Pick of the week!! *A Breach of Silence*

First pick of the week goes to...A Breach of Silence!

New Album: The Darkest Road
From Brisbane, Australia

These guys truly bring there own unique sound. Rhyes voice is versatile. A lot of bands have attempted to have versatility in there lead vocals but it doesn't always work, with this band it does. After listening to there song Vultures and The darkest road I was hooked and left wanting more. So I purchased the album. I do enjoy the whole album but there are some that stand out to me more then others. These are my picks from there new album.

In reality we trust
Darkest road
Immortal
Time still remains
Vultures

The thing that stuck out to me is the fact that each song has a mood, from happy to sad to excited and all those in between. I could go on and on about the band but I think you should go check them out for yourself. Trust me you wont be disappointed. I cant wait for another US tour so I can check them out live!!! Also check them out on Twitter, FaceBook,YouTube, and on Itunes!!!
